Item Gender in cross-cultural perspective : insights from Cameroonian women living in the U.S.(2002) Shaw, Octavia Nerissa.; Rivkin, Mary; Education; EducationThis research attempts to understand the perspectives of two Cameroonian women living in the U.S. The research focuses on the roles, expectations, and stereotypes of Cameroonian and American women and men. After interviewing, transcribing, and interpreting the data, this ethnographic study concludes that although gender roles, expectations, and stereotypes are different among Cameroonians and Americans, other themes are important. Those other themes are family and opportunities. Finally, the women in this study are not typical Cameroonian women because they're in the U.S. studying, childless, single, and putting their careers before establishing a nuclear family.
