Abstract

The purpose of this study is was to determine whether fifth -grade students can improve upon their social skills by participating in an intervention in which their physical education teacher explaining explains the game in depth, using uses visuals and using uses student demonstrations of correct and incorrect play of the game. The measurement tool was a ten -question social skills questionnaire administered at the end of every class. This study involved the use of a posttest in order to determine whether the students’s social skills had improved or not. Achievement gains were slightly higher in those students who received the explanation of the games as well as demonstrationsintervention. Research in this area should continue because physical education class can be a suitable environment for students to improve their social skills.
