The purpose of this study was to determine if stress relieving techniques have an effect on the level of success an athlete achieves in the sport of swimming at the collegiate level. The participants in this study consisted of twenty student-athlete swimmers at a NCAA Division III school in Maryland. This study involved the use of a survey to perform a causal-comparative analysis of the data. The results determined no significant difference between the success of the athletes, though these results could be attributed to a number of factors. Research in the area of stress in collegiate student-athletes should continue given the constant strain these athletes are under and the negative outcomes that follow improper stress relieving techniques.en_US
