In the presentation, entitled Nonprofit Hospitals: Earning Their Tax-Exempt Status Tying Medicaid Coverage to Tax Exemption, Milligan gave a brief history of the relationship between tax-exempt status and insurance coverage; discussed trends in insurance coverage; and suggested potential roles for tax-exempt hospitals in financing public insurance.en_US
