| dc.description.abstract | This is my community. These are my friends. This is my workplace, and at times, has been my address. Concert touring asks us to be flexible, smart, and quick on our feet. We have to be easy going and balls to the wall, all at once. It’s been ten years since I put on my first tour credential and was welcomed backstage. This book strives to show a glimpse of this quiet yet fierce society, as I have experienced it. This is not a book about rock stars. This is not a book about tabloid tales or even about a single tour. Many touring professionals from several different tours throughout this project. These roadies shared moments from their standard show days, technical jobs, and extensive careers. Very few names have been changed; however, upon request, some have, along with some key identifiers, to guard the privacy of those individuals. The “Show Day” depicted here is representative of an average day backstage, as described by the live event technicians who contributed. Life backstage is unpredictable. This book pulls back those thick velvet curtains, to reveal the invisible work life of touring rock and roll roadies. | en_US |
