Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine college student’s attitudes about events outside of their social circle. In the experiment, participants received a pre-test survey, attended an outgroup activity, and then completed a post-test survey. There was no significant statistical difference between the athletes’ and non-athletes’ post-event rating of their enjoyment of the events or feelings that members of their in-groups might also be willing to attend similar events in the future. Therefore, the null hypothesis was retained. Research in this area should continue to encourage students to attend a more diverse array of events offered on their campus.
