dc.description.abstractFounded in 1925 as the Maryland State Normal School, Salisbury University has a rich and unique history. This silent film shows Maryland State Normal School at Salisbury campus scenes from 1928 to 1930, digitized from the University Archive’s 16mm film reel. Depicted in the film are aerial views of campus, the 1928 cornerstone laying of what is now called Holloway Hall, students picnicking at a nearby mill pond and Chincoteague Island, 1929 and 1930 May Day festivities, an airplane landing on campus to deliver newspapers, the 1928 commencement ceremony, and the dedication of a lily pool, among many other scenes.
