Abstract

Amiri Baraka's Lecture: Amiri Baraka, a civil rights activist, author, poet, and lecturer, delivered a lecture on Black History at MSU. He discussed the Million Man March, highlighting both its positive aspects and criticisms. Baraka also expressed his views on Black history movies and emphasized the importance of understanding Black history and political consciousness. Fostering Unity, Sisterhood, & Awareness: An article on Phi Alpha Psi Sorority, Inc., which was founded to address the needs of women that were not being met by other Greek letter sororities. The organization emphasizes non-physical hazing, unity, sisterhood, and cultural pride. Miss Collegiate African-American Visits MSU: Christi "Uwimanah" Bradford, the reigning Miss Collegiate African-American, visited MSU as part of a tour of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) for Black History Month.
