Journal of Applied Physics 15 November 2011; 110 (10): 102218. https://doi.org/10.1063/1.3661988https://doi.org/10.1063/1.3661988http://hdl.handle.net/11603/29211The mechanical properties of self-assembled silver nanoparticle (Ag-NP) films at the air-liquid interface are studied using both visible light optics and x-ray scattering techniques. The response of such films to compression is compared with results from previously studied gold nanoparticle (Au-NP) films, showing many similarities, along with significant differences. Possible factors governing the stress response of nanoparticle films are discussed.8 pagesen-USThis work was written as part of one of the author's official duties as an Employee of the United States Government and is therefore a work of the United States Government.
