The measurement tool used was the Fountas and Pinnell Benchmark Assessment system. Time spent reading at home was collected via a reading log, signed by parents for validity. This study utilized a pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design. Independent reading time was not significantly correlated to reading comprehension.
