Item Thrive | A Milestone Application(2020-12-11) Koslowsky, Shana; Rhee, Megan; Walsh, Greg; Patschke, David; University of Baltimore. Yale Gordon College of Arts and Sciences; M.F.A. Integrated DesignThe goal of Thrive is to create an interactive storybook with personalized avatars that helps children hit developmental milestones. This happens concurrently with enhancing the child-parent reading relationship through digital dialogic reading and the child’s use of a self-depicted avatar. By combining the elements of avatar play and dialogic reading, Thrive offers an engaging and educational experience for children to assist in further developing young minds and helping them attain developmental milestones. This application was created through research, user experience studies, and testing, as well as knowledge of graphic design principles and early childhood education. It is also a resource to connect child and parent in an educationally productive medium.
