Item Assimilating AV into Archival Processing(Northeast Document Conservation Center, 2014-10-21) Hagan, SiobhanThis presentation teaches basic audiovisual format identification, methods of care and handling, and description for audiovisual collections. Collections with audiovisual materials have often been handled separately from traditional archival processing; unusual formats and sometimes unrecognizable content were too unwieldy for traditional catalogue records or finding aids. But with training and time running out on magnetic tape longevity, it's time to embrace those AV formats and roll them into workflows along with typical paper collections.Item Audiovisual Preservation Workflows in University Libraries(Society of American Archivists, 2014-08-16) Hagan, SiobhanThis Powerpoint presentation was part of a panel session at the annual conference of the Society of American Archivists, featuring three academic institutions that have developed successful and sustainable programs for audiovisual description, preservation, and digitization, making better access to collections possible. Through the themes in Dickinson’s poetry and her obsession with “the looming man”, the author reveals her desire to share a connection with her readers. However, she is fearful that her work will be widely accessible to the public. While A Quiet Passion attempts to address the author's reluctant relationship with her readers, the film demonstrates that adaptations can never fully honor the wishes of their source material.Item Regional Audiovisual Archives(Promoting Preservation Interest Group (Association for Library Collections and Technical Services), 2015-06-28) Hagan, SiobhanThis PowerPoint presentation was given in San Francisco, California, during the American Library Association's annual conference, introducing the audience to the work of the Regional Audiovisual Archives Committee (RAVA) of the Association of Moving Image Archivists.
