Item Parsing IKEA Objects: Fine Pose Estimation(IEEE, 2013-12-03) Lim, Joseph J.; Pirsiavash, Hamed; Torralba, AntonioWe address the problem of localizing and estimating the fine-pose of objects in the image with exact 3D models. Our main focus is to unify contributions from the 1970s with recent advances in object detection: use local keypoint detectors to find candidate poses and score global alignment of each candidate pose to the image. Moreover, we also provide a new dataset containing fine-aligned objects with their exactly matched 3D models, and a set of models for widely used objects. We also evaluate our algorithm both on object detection and fine pose estimation, and show that our method outperforms state-of-the art algorithms.Item Studies of BRDF in conifer and deciduous boreal forests using the 4-scale model and airborne POLDER and ground-based PARABOLA measurements(AGU, 1997-08) Chen, J.M.; Leblanc, S.G.; Cihlar, J.C.; Bicheron, P.; Leroy, M.; Deering, D.; Eck, ThomasAn investigation of directional reflectance of boreal forests is conducted using airborne POLDER (1994) and ground-based PARABOLA measurements (1995) and the 4-Scale model (1997). The model simulates well the pronounced hotspots observed by POLDER and the slight bowl shape in the forward scattering direction observed by PARABOLA. The model is also used to demonstrate the importance of branch architecture in the directionality of NDVI calculated from the red and near infrared reflectance.
