Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine if the use of a letter, keyword, sound warm-up
strategy would increase the decoding ability and reading comprehension of students in a second
grade class. The null hypothesis was that the experimental group would not make any
improvement after the duration of the experiment. Data supported the null hypothesis indicating
that the students did not make any significant growth during the experiment. Research should
continue as the baseline data, group selection, and duration of the experiment were all hindered
by the restrictions caused by the Covid-19 virus.
