Abstract

Listening to a Holocaust survivor’s story can be a very difficult thing to do. This paper was written at the conclusion of Goucher’s Oral History of the Holocaust course. I had the pleasure of interviewing Mrs. Raden, a retired teacher who has touched the lives of many different people. She told my section of the class her tale of survival and hope. The paper addresses different aspects of the class and the experience of preparing for the interview, interviewing and performing the stories of Holocaust survivors. I wanted to address the importance of this class and the impact that students can make by taking part in it. All of my grandparents are Holocaust survivors and I have found that when I listen to other people’s experiences I learn more about my family and myself.
