Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of social skills instruction on classroom
behavior. Students were presented with the Skill Streaming in the Elementary School curriculum.
This study involved a pre-test and post-test design. Students and the teacher used a rating scale
after each skill was taught to determine if the skill level improved. At the conclusion of the
study, teacher ratings suggested students demonstrated improvement. Particular growth was
seen in weeks two through seven. More research needs to be completed on this program to
determine if the results in positive social skills will continue to grow and to determine if the
program results will stand long term.
