dc.descriptionFrom Ali Bakhshai: Jay Zeck was a student in my PHY230 course last semester. In this course each student is responsible to work on eight independent projects. Students are required to do, 1) literature search, 2) conduct the experiment, collect and analyze the data, and 3) write a paper describing the experiment, including all the necessary sections that a publishable paper in physics journals will need. Jay did an excellent job in all of his papers and received an “A” in the course. The acceptance of one of his papers for the Verge publication was an icing on the cake for him and a pleasure for me.en_US
dc.description.abstractThe Intermediate Physics Lab class gave me the opportunity to try to develop a superconductor from mixing basic materials. My studies in physics have led me to understand the theoretical properties of superconductors; however, testing those theories in the lab proved to be very worthwhile and satisfying. My paper serves to organize my results to that investigation and to document the procedure.en_US
