Abstract
A number of theoretical and experimental investigations show that soliton systems are greatly improved through the use of dispersion management. ¹⁻⁶ Modern-day soliton systems that use dispersion management resemble in many respects traditional return to zero or non-return to zero systems that have been using dispersion management for many years.
