dc.description.abstractBeginning in 2001, Maryland offered premium assistance to subsidize employer-sponsored insurance for children eligible for the Maryland Children’s Health Program established under the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). The General Assembly subsequently voted to discontinue premium assistance in 2003. This report examines Maryland ‘s experience with the premium assistance program, discussing employer participation, enrollee participation, and program cost-effectiveness.en
