Abstract
In a series of recent experiments at the Naval Research Laboratory, Reintjes and coworkers1–3 have studied Raman amplification in H2. A number of different studies have been carried out to investigate beam cleanup and beam combining and to study Stokes amplification. In these studies, both diffractive and temporal effects can play an important role.
