This edited volume is an invaluable addition to the studies that attempt to bridge international relations and communication studies. Building on the earlier works of the editors (e.g. Roselle, Miskimmon and O’Loughlin 2014) and following the success of their 2013 book, Strategic Narratives: Communication Power and the New World Order (Miskimmon, O’Loughlin and Roselle 2013), this volume presents an astounding combination of theoretical, methodological and empirical chapters on the role of strategic narratives in foreign policy. The editors acknowledge the narrative turn in international relations (6) and position their volume as an attempt to highlight the explanatory power of the concept of strategic narratives’ (1).
