dc.description.abstractWe investigate the sources of nonlinearity in a partially depleted absorber (PDA) photodetector and a modified uni-traveling-carrier (MUTC) photodetector. The Franz-Keldysh effect and impact ionization are the two most important sources of nonlinearity.
