dc.descriptionThis manuscript was written in partial fulfillment of an MFA degree from Goucher College.The purpose of this manuscript is to recall the experiences of a white woman living and working in a majority black populated city for fifteen years. It is intended to reflect and illuminate the notion of race and privilege in an atypical environment.All of the essays in this manuscript are recalled from the author’s first hand experiences while living in Detroit, Michigan. The background information was gleaned from research using newspaper reports, and interviews with primary sources.en_US
