The purpose of this study was to determine whether a Technology-Based Intervention Program, Study Island, would positively affect the skill retention of mathematics skills of eight selected third grade special education students. The measurement tool was the Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS) unit assessment for the geometry unit. This study involved the use of a pretest/posttest design to compare data from March of 2013 (before the intervention was administered) to data from June of 2013 (after the intervention was complete). The results of the study show a decline in students’ skill retention, but the amount of the decline was not statistically significant, thus could have occurred by chance. Research in the area of Technology-Based Intervention programs should continue in order to determine the reliability and validity of these types of programs.en_US
