Abstract

The first four issues of ILE 2025 and the tenth issue of 2024 contain 28 original research papers that address Generative AI. Fifteen of those 28 original research papers rely on questionnaires administered to students or teachers. What are methods in the non questionnaire papers? The masthead for ILE states that : “ ILE covers any educational settings designed to support teaching and learning through interaction, using technology.” Approaches to this could be manifold, but one would involve identifying needed technology, implementing that technology, and evaluating its impact on education, and 3 of the 28 papers use that design, implement, and test method (call it the engineering method). The method of content analysis, broadly interpreted, characterizes 8 of the 28 papers. Thus, this collection cites 3 engineering plus 8 content analysis papers.
