| dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this study was to evaluate the correlation of independent reading time at home on the level of reading comprehension of fifth grade students. The measurement tool used was the Fountas and Pinnell Benchmark Assessment system. Time spent reading at home was collected via a reading log, signed by parents for validity. This study utilized a pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design. Independent reading time was not significantly correlated to reading comprehension. Research on the relationship of independent reading time at home on reading comprehension should continue due to the importance of reading on future academic success. | en_US |
