dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this study was to examine the effects of physical activity in elementary school students on academic achievement. This study took place over the course of five weeks and used a pre-test and post-test design. Students in the study participated in a physical activity session during “Morning Meeting” each day for a total of twenty minutes each day. The students were rated each day on their participation level and attendance during the sessions. The tools used to measure academic achievement were the math benchmarks 2 and 3. Results did not show positive effects of the physical activity interventions on the math benchmark scores. Future studies are recommended involving more accurate activity level measurements and requirements in order to determine the effects of physical activity on academic achievement.en_US
