dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this study was to determine whether the use of the Elements of Reading: Vocabulary program would positively affect the vocabulary acquisition of students in a selected second grade classroom. A quasi-experimental design was used, with a pre-test given before the implementation of the four week program and a post-test administered at the end of the study to determine the effectiveness of the program. There was significant improvement observed in vocabulary acquisition based on the pre- and post-test results for both on grade level students and above grade level students; therefore, confirming the hypothesis. Future research is recommended to increase the sample size and extend the instructional time for the treatment.en_US
