Abstract

A New York Times article released yesterday titled “The Senate Wants Billions More in Medicaid Cuts, Pinching States and Infuriating Hospitals” references Hilltop’s analysis of Medicaid provider taxes. Authored by Hilltop Director of Analytics and Research Dr. Morgan Henderson, Senior Data Scientist Dr. Leigh Goetschius, and Executive Director Alice Middleton, this analysis uses provider tax rates and net patient revenue data to estimate the state-level impacts of eliminating the 6% Medicaid provider tax threshold. This is the third New York Times article to reference this analysis, and is the latest in a series of Hilltop analyses focused on modeling state-level impacts of potential federal Medicaid policy changes.
