Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of providing teacher leadership
opportunities in a small urban charter school on teacher satisfaction. The study was
conducted from October 2014 to March 2015 during which time teacher leadership
opportunities were offered school wide to teachers who had been employed at the school
for at least one year. The results indicate that providing teacher leadership opportunities
had no significant effect on teacher satisfaction. All teachers reported an increased level
of teacher leadership and satisfaction in certain areas of the school, but that did not
change the level of satisfaction with teaching overall.
