Abstract

Since 1987, schools in Baltimore have been working with the Fund for Educational Excellence and the education research center at Johns Hopkins University to develop comprehensive programs of school-family-community partnerships. To better understand how these schools are building and improving theirpartnershipprograms,administrators, teachers and parents serving onActionTeamsforSchool-Family-Community Partnerships at six schools were interviewed. This report focuses on how Action Teams for School-Family-Community Partnerships in the schools that were visited use Epstein’s framework of six types of involvement to develop more effective school-family-community connections.
