Abstract

The purpose of this study was to see if music could impact anxiety in adolescents. The measurement tool was a focus group. The participants in the focus group were asked a series of questions. The study involved a descriptive study design to understand how music can be used as a tool to help lower anxiety. The participants were 15 students in middle school who have experienced anxiety and are currently participating in music. Findings showed that music was able to help calm their minds and help them focus. Previously, the participants never thought to listen to music while they were experiencing anxiety. The information gathered in this study showed that music is not considered a common tool when it comes to lowering anxiety but is helpful in lowering anxiety.
