Abstract
This thesis examines the Oil Concession: Conflict and Competition Between Anglo-American Interests in the Gulf and Qatar from the 1916 through the 1939. Through the use of numerous primary resources, which can be reviewed in detail in the bibliographies in the English and Arabic languages, this thesis explains the Conflict of Anglo-American interests in the Twentieth century. The importance of studying the history of oil in the Gulf, in general, and in Qatar lies in the fact that oil constitutes the foundation on which contemporary American policy was established in the Middle East. There, the American influence managed to counter British influence and challenge the myth of British hegemony.
