dc.description.abstract | Four tricarbonyl rhenium(I) diphosphine perrhenato complexes of the type, fac-(CO)3(L2)ReOReO3 were obtained from the reactions of the corresponding hydrido complexes, fac-(CO)3(L2)ReH with perrhenic acid. L2 represents different diphosphines which include 1,2-Bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane, 1,3-Bis(diphenylphosphino)propane, 1,4-Bis(diphenylphosphino)butane and 1,1'-Bis(diphenylphosphino)ferrocene. We have observed that the perrhenate compounds are highly cytotoxic against U-937 lymphoma cell lines. The average IC50 value is approximately 1.25 µM. Additionally, we have determined from UV titrations that some of the above rhenium perrhenato complexes bind to DNA in an intercalative mode. This work demonstrates the cytotoxic and DNA-binding properties of a series of rhenium (diphosphine) perrhenato complexes. | |
