Childhood obesity is one of the most severe public health concerns in Baltimore City(Annie E. Casey Foundation, 2023). The low-income population is at the highest risk, and childhood obesity has multiple implications for future health conditions. More than 35% of high school students in Baltimore City were overweight or obese, exceeding the state’s rate by nearly 10% (The Baltimore City Health Department, 2017a). However, multiple efforts failed to address the core reasons for obesity during adolescence in Baltimore. Therefore, more significant public health initiatives addressing these reasons are urgently needed (Annie E. Casey Foundation, 2023).
