The change in land use and land cover (LULC) was analyzed for an area in and around the Antietam Creek Watershed in Washington County, Maryland. Classified land cover maps were produced from Landsat images from 1987, 1999, and 2009 using IDRISI Taiga. Changes in forest, agriculture, grass, urban, residential, and water were examined among the three years. Large changes in all land covers (except water) were seen over the 22-year time period. Residential, Urban, and Grass had large increases in area, while Forest and Agriculture had large decreases in area. These changes have the potential to negatively impact stream quality in the Antietam Creek Watershed.
