The undeniable prevalence of aggression in our society has mandated that research efforts not only be directed at developing intervention methods, but also at developing preventative strategies. This comprehensive critical literature review analyzes the factors found to be most significant in young children's development of aggression as they relate to the categories of child characteristics, parental characteristics, and environmental characteristics. The findings of recent research are summarized and critiqued, and recommendations for the prevention of aggression in young children are suggested.en_US
