dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this study was to provide first grade students who have been exposed to trauma, with strategies to build coping skills to improve their behavior in a school setting. The measurement tool used was a behavioral checklist provided by Harford County Public Schools. The students selected in this study had an ACE (Adverse Childhood Experiences) score of a three or higher. This study involved the use of a pretest and a posttest design to compare the data. This study suggests teaching, implementing coping skills and providing tools increased positive student behavior in a classroom setting. Research in this area should continue with a condensed group of students.en
