| dc.description.abstract | Online Learning Systems have been prevalent for as long as wide-spread computer use itself. In the last decade, however, their usefulness has come under attack. In reaction, many current systems are finally beginning to consider the application of research findings from Cognitive Science to improve online learning effectiveness. Nonetheless, still absent from this effort is the inclusion of higher cognitive functionality as relates to the construction of human episodic and hierarchical memory. The system proposed and designed for this study attempts to address this omission. Specifically, I address the facilitation of hierarchical and episodic memory contraction in the learning of programming languages in an online system. The resulting system demonstrates one approach to how this might be accomplished | |
