Abstract
Providing the means and resources for energy consumers to monitor their own energy consumption at an affordable price is the next evolution of energy metering. I used an Arduino board with current transformers and built a low-cost user-friendly energy monitor. My energy monitor is able to measure the flow of current through various sized current-carrying conductors and produce real-time usable data. This real-time data was applied to new residential markets, and my study will show how existing commercial markets can benefit from low-cost energy metering.
