dc.description.abstract | As worldwide fossil fuel consumption continues to occur at an increasing rate, the need to look for alternative energy sources becomes apparent. Fossil fuels, such as oil, natural gas, and coal, constitute a finite source of energy that powers factories, furnaces, and homes all over the world. The Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported in its Annual Energy Outlook 2015 that fossil fuels contribute to 67.2% of the United States electric energy consumption. The EIA also sees fossils fuels maintaining their status as America’s leading source of energy consumption until 2040 (1). As global climate change continues to occur due to the burning of fossil fuels, this fact should cause for alarm. | en_US |
