Abstract

Homecoming Victory: The Morgan State Bears football team ended an 18-year drought by winning their Homecoming game against Delaware State with a score of 15-13, held at the new Ravens Stadium. This marked their first win of the season. SGA Account Freeze: SGA President Seymour Edward Chambers placed a freeze on all SGA expenditure accounts due to concerns about overspending and lack of revenue generation. The freeze will remain until effective fundraising methods are implemented to recoup funds. Homecoming Concert: Despite low attendance, the Homecoming concert featured performances by Chico Debarge, Kid Capri, Lord Tariq & Peter Gunz, and the Sporty Thieves. UMOJA Council President Eric Ravenell expressed satisfaction with the performances but disappointment with the turnout, attributing it to factors like the $17 admission fee. Scam Warning: The MSU Police Department issued warnings about a scam targeting students, where individuals are tricked into depositing fake checks and end up with financial losses. Students were advised to be cautious and report any suspicious activity. Mr. Sophomore's Community Service: John Bullock, Mr. Sophomore, and his team engaged in various community service activities, including raising funds for diabetes research and participating in student organizations like T.T.C. and B.L.O.O.D. He plans to initiate a mentoring program for Northwood Elementary School. WEAA's Town Hall Meeting on AIDS: WEAA hosted a Town Hall Meeting on AIDS Awareness, breaking the silence on the issue within the African American community. Experts, victims, and students discussed AIDS-related issues, emphasizing the importance of testing and prevention. Black Voting Rights: An editorial highlighted the low voter turnout among African Americans and stressed the importance of voting, citing historical struggles for voting rights and the potential impact of political participation. Profiles of Distinguished Individuals: The paper featured profiles of notable individuals such as Dr. Winston Murray, who overcame significant challenges to become a professor and diplomat, and Dr. Max Hilaire, who pursued advanced studies and aims to enhance the internationalization of Morgan State University.
