Abstract
The creation of the atomic bomb is one of the most extraordinary events in world history.
The purpose of this paper is to explain how the atomic bomb was created. The first part
of the paper explains the scientific advancement in nuclear physics. The scientific
advancement was not just one scientist, it was a team of scientist working independently
but advancing each others discoveries respectively. The next section of the paper will
examine the setting up of the Manhattan Project. The Manhattan Project was a two
billion dollar operation led by General Groves and Dr. J. Robert Oppenheimer. The
Manhattan Project consisted of facilities and laboratories all over the United States. The
last section of the paper is titled the search for uranium. The United States had a very
difficult problem, they needed uranium. The United States eventually brokered a deal
with Belgians who controlled the Congo, which had the largest supply of uranium at the
time. The creation of the atomic bomb is monumental because every piece fell in the
correct place at the exact right time in order for it creation to take place.
